Cricketing Details

Bats:Right Bowls:sort of - very slow!
Fielding Position:close to the wicket, short leg, but that was many years ago when my reactions were good Awards:best fielder award on tour at age of 47
Best Batting:81* vs team in South london, we never played them again because if I could score that many runs they must be rubbish! I took part in lrecod last wicket stand for Tonbridge Printers against East Malling at home. Batted at number 7, last man came in at 27 for 9, he made 19* and I was out for 44. We won the match! Best Bowling:Cant remember but I did top the bowling averages once
On-field Club Duties:When allowed out, I try to encourage the youngsters to enjoy fielding - it is half of the game Off-field Club Duties:Club Chairman. We have an excellent commitee which makes my job easy, in fact they seem to get on best when Im not around. (We have an excellent Chairman too-Ed)

Other Details

Hobbies & Interests:following football, I am a Charlton AFC season ticket holder. Ilike to follow horse racing, and the bookies like it too. I am very environmentally aware and have been trying to save the planet for about 40 years, successfully so far, as we are all still here! Most Memorable match:Watching Real Madrid beat Eintracht Frankfurt 7-3, Puskas got 4 goals, di Stefano got 3. The germans had beaten Rangers about 6-0 in the semi-final. It was in black and white TV at Hampden Park stadium, Glasgow, in front of 135,000 spectators. The skill was magical. Of course the 1966 World Cup win for England, and the traumatic play off final when Charlton beat Sunderland 7-6 on penalties after a 4-4 game into extra time.
Little Known Personal Fact:At the age of 25 I was the average height for an Englishman! Sporting Hero:Cricket - Brian Close, Dennis Compton, Tony Lock, Shane Warne. Football - Bobby Moore, Jimmy Greaves, Dennis Law, Alfredo di Stefano (in my opinion the greatest player of all time), Ferenc Puskas, Gordon Banks, and anyone who dosn't play for Man. Utd!
Favourite Drink:Real English beer, Bombadier as served at the George and Dragon Favourite Film:Shane, a great western. The director fought in the Korean war and realised that when a person was shot he was impelled backward. It is the first film that actually showed the force of being shot.
Favourite Food:As a vegetarian I enjoy anything but meat. My favourite restaurant isTerre a Terre in Brighton, try it some time it will change your mind about vegetarian food.
