Cowdrey are kings of the Castle!

Cowdrey lost the toss & were elected to bat first. CJ and Alex got off to a good start scoring a partnership of 30 runs off of 7 overs. Alex was then bowled for 10 by a very slow bowler who had to be respected. CJ was run out for 14 by Ross Pilkington. A steady 32 run partnership between Pilkington and Browning started with many fours. Pilkington was then caught out for 22.Browning carried on his innings until very near the end, hitting the best ‘slog sweep’ of the season so far. Nobody else made it to double figures, although a few more partnerships were made. Cowdrey posted a respectable total of 110 – 9.

Cowdrey went on confidently to field because they dismissed Castle Hill for 44 the other time they had played each other. This was certainly not the case this time. Park and Pilkington bowled well together. The 8 overs between them going for just 11 runs, with one wicket falling. The next bowling partnership consisted of Harris and Devlin, both bowling well. Ed picked up two wickets. Sam Denton also picked up the crucial wicket of Duncan Bristow (their opening batsman). Freddy Hoare and Ben Browning bowled very well at the death. With special mention to Freddy’s last over going for just six with Castle Hill needing just 15 to win and to Conor Skillen’s fielding which has been exemplary all season. A very good Cowdrey win!

Result: Cowdrey won by 8 runs.
