Draw at the Vine
Cowdrey won the toss & elected to bat first. This appeared to be a batsman’s wicket as CJ steadily made his way to a creditable 52 runs before retiring, we knew he had it in him! An excellent partnership of 97 between CJ and Alex Hollingsworth (36) helped take Cowdrey to a total of 126 for 4. Ross Pilkington did his usual of hitting a ‘6’ on his first ball and then not staying in much longer!
Cowdrey went on confidently to field but struggled to take any wickets early on. In fact it was a full 77 runs before the first wicket fell. Conor Skillen took a wicket in his first over and Nick Farr took a wicket each and the third wicket was a run out. It has to be said that some slack fielding and extras from the bowling left Sevenoaks Vine requiring 8 from the last over to win. Cowdrey salvaged a draw when they only managed to get 7 runs.
A disappointing result from a team who had so far this season bowled and fielded extremely well.
