Long trip pays off with a win at St. Lawrence

Cowdrey lost the toss & were elected to bowl. It wasn’t long before Alex Park took his first wicket, bowling out their number 2 for 5 runs. Then on came Ed Harris to stem the flow with impressive figures of 4 overs, 2 maidens and only 4 runs against him. Ross Pilkington came on to take a further wicket (lbw) and then Ben Browning bowled some good spin and took 2 wickets (stumped by Johnny Beale). There were 3 missed catches and the bowling was littered with wides but in between that Conor Skillen did a great ‘caught & bowled’ and took a further wicket (caught well by Tom Devlin) as well as having a hand in a run out. Alex Park also took a further 2 wickets (bowled) to leave St. Lawrence on a total of 114-9.

After a few stern words from Gazza, the boys knew exactly what they had to do! The successful opening partnership of Alex Park and CJ Brown continued and the pair both sprayed 4’s around like there was no tomorrow. 69 runs were put on before St. Lawrence took a wicket, despite their opening bowler being scarily quick! Ben Browning came in as number 3 and scored an impressive 23 not out and Ross Pilkington completed the innings with a 12 not out to leave Cowdrey with 116 runs with the loss of only 2 wickets and 4.2 overs left in the game.
