Well, we knew this game was never going to be easy, against the league leaders. Cowdrey lost the toss & were elected to bowl. The Holmesdale boys set about their task efficiently and their first 3 batsmen scored 99 between them. The Cowdrey bowling figures don’t make great reading but there were flashes of inspiration from Sam Denton (caught & bowled), Freddy Hoare (caught & bowled), Alex Park (clean bowled) and Conor Skillen (caught by CJ, yes you can catch CJ!) Holmesdale ended their innings on 166 runs.

This was a tough target and the runs were slow to come at the beginning. However, Alex Hollingsworth’s innings was the highlight as he retired on 50. Three boys scored ‘6’s (Alex Hollingsworth, Ross Pilkington & Johnny Beale) and we gained a valuable batting point when on the last ball of the innings, the ball hit the wicket keepers helmet which was lying on the ground (5 penalty runs).
