Top bowling wins day

This was a day for Cowdrey’s bowlers, skittling out Withyham for only 66 runs. Corby was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets for 11 runs off his three overs, and Ben Browning had a fine spell, beating the bat repeatedly in his three overs which produced two wickets for 10 runs. Luke Brame, Ben Mutch and Ollie Shimmin each took a wicket, and Ollie Shimmin was deadly in the field, taking two catches and chasing down the singles.

On a difficult wicket it was time for concentration. After an early wicket fell, James Skidmore and Joel Scott came together and batted carefully to put on 40 runs before the next wicket fell. Ben Browning came to the crease and batted like a man in a hurry, finishing with 21 not out. Joel was 17 not out, having played a captain’s innings to see Cowdrey home.
