2025 Season Review
As the nights are getting longer, another succesfull year at Cowdrey Cricket Club is drawing to a close.
In 2025, we've played over 150 matches – that's nearly seven games every single week during the season. For the first time ever, we fielded four sides on a Saturday. Expect more of that in 2026!
It's a remarkable achievement that simply wouldn't happen without our players, parents, supporters and volunteers. Thank you to every single one of you.
2025 The Numbers:
- 150+ matches played
- 89 junior games (128 junior players)
- 62 adult games (83 players, including 20 debutants)
- 2 festivals
- 1 tour (the ladies conquered Malta!)
- 18 match teas provided
Investing In Our Club
We've had a busy year off the pitch too. New floodlights now illuminate the nets, whilst a mounted camera lets us live stream matches from the clubhouse. Security cameras keep everything safe, and there's a wonderful new patio where you can sit back and enjoy the action. You might have spotted the latest addition – a digital scoreboard and clock on the clubhouse roof, so you can follow every run without moving an inch. We've also upgraded the changing facilities and installed a remote irrigation system.
A massive thanks to our groundsman, Pete, whose work on the square has given us a pitch that hosts all these games brilliantly and offers fair conditions for both bat and ball
What's Next
Training for 2026 has already begun, with our Junior winter nets kicking off in October.
Looking ahead to 2026, the 1st XI will compete in Division 4, with the 2nd XI heading into Division 8. We're also exploring restarting the 3rd XI in the Kent League level following increased member interest, and investigating a six-a-side adult indoor winter league. We'll keep you posted.
We believe this range of cricket offers the best opportunities for everyone to develop and enjoy the game.
We Need You!
As always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their continued support. The committee is grateful to everyone who's given their time this season. If you'd like to get involved or have skills that could help the club, please let us know. We're currently looking for:
- A development league manager (U15-U21)
- Parents interested in becoming coaches, managers or assistants
- Parents who haven't played recently but fancy picking up a bat again (how many sports let you play alongside your children? We had a family of four in one match this year!)
- Ladies interested in softball cricket
